Material Testing Laboratory - Impact Testing (Room and Sub Zero temperatures.)

Impact testing is a method used to determine the toughness of a material by allowing a hammer to collide with a test piece via a pendulum and measuring the amount of energy which the material can absorb.

This information also gives insight on the brittle/ ductile characteristics of the material. DMTL has the capabilities of measuring absorbed energy at room and sub-zero temperatures using a 450J pendulum impact testing machine.
